To maintain and restore these important American Revolutionary sites, Dr. Blakeslee works with the West Point Volunteers, the West Point Garrison, the Department of Military History, the West Point Museum, The Kosciuszko Foundation, The Association for the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point, the Hudson River Valley Institute, the Constitution Island Association and other important organizations and volunteers.


Betsey Blakeslee has over 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry. Among her previous positions, Dr. Blakeslee served as President and CEO of U S West Network Systems, a subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company. She also served as Director of Executive Leadership Development at US West. Appointed by the Secretary of the Army, she served as Executive Liaison for The Center For Total Access at Fort Gordon coordinating civilian and military activities at the testbed for telemedicine applications in the battlefield. She served as an Executive Director of the National Commission on Workplace Learning and Technology under the Secretary of Labor. She was also Chair of the Mass Communications Department at Piedmont College in Georgia.


Betsey Blakeslee graduated from Thayer Academy preparatory school in Braintree, Massachusetts, and holds a B.A. from Marymount College, an M.A. from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Her husband, Colonel Don Blakeslee, Class of ’70, is on active duty at West Point.
